You know President Joe Biden is doing something wrong when even left-leaning activist media outlets take him to task. After more than a month of claiming there’s nothing to see at the border and telling government officials not to speak with the press, the president seems to have irked the activist media.

Left-Wing Networks Criticize Biden
When the migrant crisis first began to materialize, the activist media gave the usual friendly coverage to the Biden administration, even refusing to question claims that the situation was under control. It even shielded the president from criticism over using the same “kids in cages” approach to housing unaccompanied minors.
However, as the problem worsened and more migrants approached the southern border, it became more difficult for them to continue covering for the White House. Now that Biden has ordered Customs and Border Patrol officials not to give any information to members of the press, the activist media seems to be singing a different tune about their man in the Oval Office.
CNN’s Pamela Brown hosted a segment in which she discussed the surge of migrants at the southern border. During the show, she told her audience that “as the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border gets worse, the media is being kept from it.”
Photojournalist John Moore also took issue with the administration’s lack of transparency.
“I respectfully ask US Customs and Border Protection to stop blocking media access to their border operations,” Moore tweeted. “I have photographed CBP under Bush, Obama and Trump but now – zero access is granted to media. These long lens images taken from the Mexican side.”
Several media activists have hammered White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on the administration’s refusal to be candid with the press. The Daily Beast quoted a “veteran White House correspondent” on Sunday who slammed the president for failing to hold a formal press conference after 50 days into his presidency.
“It’s a problem,” the reporter said on condition of anonymity. “Who are we kidding here? More than two months without a press conference? Come on!”
The source continued, arguing that Biden is “stretching the bounds of access and transparency.”
“From a strategic standpoint, it makes perfect sense because why would he want to get asked about his predecessor all the time? Or Hunter Biden? There are always going to be uncomfortable questions, no matter who’s in office,” he said. “But there’s a responsibility issue here that he has just been completely ducking. It’s too cute by half. It seems they’re doing this because they think it just throws them off message.”
Where Does This Go Next?
On March 22, a House Democrat in Texas released new photos showing the crowded conditions of the facilities. Still, the Biden administration has kept officials from giving more information to the press. However, it is unlikely that the White House will be able to keep this up for much longer.
The fourth estate cannot afford to be as blatantly biased in this situation as it has been in the past. Indeed, the president has gone so far with his attempt to conceal the conditions at the border, that the press must at least pretend to be frustrated by the lack of cooperation. At some point, the White House will have to come clean and acknowledge its difficulties in handling the migrant crisis. Perhaps then, the activist media can go back to serving as the president’s propaganda arm.
