Dr. Fisher calmly and clearly described the rapid expansion of Chinese military power, especially in the areas of nuclear and amphibious warfare. In the face of these advances, the Chinese believe that the Biden Administration is not prepared to defend either the United States or America’s allies in Asia.
Dr. Fisher explained that China’s naval advantages have been boosted, first, by the Obama Administration’s decision to remove the U.S. Pacific Fleet’s submarine-launched nuclear cruise missiles. These weapons were initially stored, but were destroyed by Obama before he left office.
Trump funded the building and deployment of a new complement of submarine-launched nuclear cruise missiles for the Pacific Fleet’s submarines, but the Biden Administration has defunded and scrapped the program.
Dr. Fisher said that the steady growth of Chinese strategic aggressiveness and military power ought to make draft-age young Americans realize that their country is headed toward not one war, but many wars with China.
Likewise, the Obama and Biden administration’s reliable kow-towing to China has shaken America’s Asian allies — Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Australia — and caused them to believe that they no longer can count on their U.S. ally, and that, in the future, it may be necessary to buttress their own national defense with nuclear weapons.
Overall, Biden and his lieutenants are so feckless in addressing America’s defense needs, that one might conclude that it is of no interest to them.
