Today, The Two MIkes were delighted to welcome back Mr. Jim Bacon, who publishes excellent articles of news and analysis of Virginia politics at his sites ,Bacon’s Rebellion (http://www.baconsrebellion.com) and The Blunderbuss (https://www.baconsrebellion.com/wp/the-blunderbuss/).
Our discussion focused on the interesting events that have followed last week’s inauguration of the new Republican governor of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin. Notwithstanding a close victory last November, Younking and his lieutenants are showing no hesitancy in demonstrating their readiness to pursue the accomplishment of promises made to voters.
Youngkins’ Attorney General already has closed down the government’s racial fairness office and fired its thirty-five employees, and has said that the State of Virginia would prosecute any serious crimes that the Soros-funded and elected Commonwealth attorneys’ refused to prosecute in Lauden, Fairfax, and Arlington counties in northern Virginia. In addition, Youngkin has pledged to rid Virginia’s schools of “politics,” especially Critical Race Theory.
Mr. Bacon also noted that Youngkin is solidly opposed to the idea of making Virginia’s power grid carbon neutral, and intends to improve the “quality of life” for all Virginians by making the state more attractive to businesses, tourists, and potential residents, after a decade of slower growth than the national average and a net outflow of residents.
Mr. Bacon also reported that Youngkin has eliminated mandates for masks and vaccination in Virginia’s schools. After only a week in office Youngkin, through his appointments and actions, and words, has shown himself determined to “take it to the enemy”. As they always do, the Democrats will resist his efforts, but will have to proceed warily as they have a few non-radicals in their state Assembly caucus.
Mr. Bacon is the much-respected sage of Virginia politics, and, we suspect, his future reporting on Youngkin’s administration and its battles with the “enemy” will be of intense interest to Republicans and all with commonsense across the republic.
