Blake Harbin, candidate for Georgia’s 6th US Congressional district sat down with the Bill McIntosh Show to discuss Biden’s recent attempt to come to Georgia to effectively game the electoral system through legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
The Freedom to Vote Act has a number of provisions among them being restoration of federal voting rights to people with felony convictions after they have been released from prison and to mandate online voter registration and automatic registration at motor vehicle agencies. States would also have to allow Election Day voter registration at polling places.
What could possibly go wrong when millions of people who have robbed, maimed, extorted, intimidated the weak, raped innocent people, killed, sold drugs to minors, trafficked human beings and contributed to societal mayhem are automatically deemed citizens in good standing despite having cost tax payers billions for law enforcement to protect the innocent from them and to foot the bill on their incarceration? Has a felon truly “paid his debt to society” by no longer being housed by the state for several years and receiving free medical and dental care? Could illegal immigrants possibly vote due to automatic motor vehicle voter registration? In tight elections or any elections for that matter, do we wish to open the door to our right to vote being diluted if not usurped by law breakers?
After the chaos of the 2020 election do we want people voting every which way but loose regardless of oversight being needed to assure rightful voting free of mass irregularities? The so called Freedom to Vote Act would also make it a federal crime to intentionally harass, intimidate, threaten or coerce election officials, poll workers and election volunteers. This basically means election workers carrying out blatantly outrageous acts could cry foul at every turn when poll watchers sound the alarm or question their misdeeds.
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is all about giving Justice Dept. civil rights attorneys, once again, what is termed Section 5 preclearance authority for changes in state voter laws and practices. Section 5 refers to a part of the 1965 Voting Rights Act which had a provision to protect minorities from state abuse through US Justice Dept. intervention in state election laws and practices due to Jim Crow era sentiment that was real in our country in the 1960’s. Shelby County v. Holder was a 2013 US Supreme Court decision that ruled that Section 5 was no longer operable due to historical changes in our country towards fair elections.
We may want to ask: wouldn’t it be great to have our elections micro managed from Washington DC? Doesn’t everyone need Al Sharptonesque interference on election day and before to assure that the winning candidate (when conservative) can be hustled into losing elections through enabling chicanery and the invocation of racism merely because we wish to require voter ID laws or enforce sensible requirements and time tables for voter registration?
Blake Harbin summed up the impact of laws like these and stated:
“What’s at stake is huge. What he [President Biden] is actually proposing is the federalizing of elections. Now I’m sure you know this to be elections are guaranteed to be handled by the states by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution…He’s trying to take that away and we’re gonna just federalize it”.
Regarding the common sensical requirement to present a voter ID that Democrats push back on mightily, Blake Harbin quipped:
“They think you dont need an ID to vote yet in the majority of the Democrat run cities right now, they want you to present a vaccine card to come in and have a meal. You need this card to eat your food but you don’t need an ID to change the course of the country.”
Blake Harbin also outlined what he wishes to do for Georgians:
1. Tax cuts-because when you enact them, business thrives and it trickles down to help the people. Small business is the engine of economic betterment and small business grows when taxes are low. 2. Balance the budget. 3. Bring manufacturing back and make the Georgia 6th District the new hub of manufacturing in the U.S. 4. Parental choice over the education of youth.
Despite being handicapped Blake Harbin has been a business owner and job creator in his community. He’s an outsider. To find out more go to Blake’s website: www.blakeharbin.com
