Today, The Two Mikes had the pleasure of speaking with the former Republican governor of Maryland, Robert Ehrlich Jr.
Governor Ehrlich’s latest book is nearing publication and it sounds like an interesting and very timely read. The book is called Original, Unconventional, and Inconvenient; Donald J. Trump and His MAGA Movement and is now available for preorder at Amazon.com.
Gov. Ehrlich explained that his new book explains the substantial accomplishments of Trump, both as a masterful campaigner and as an imposingly successful president. He argues that Trump — for the first time since Reagan — put the Republican Party in direct and mutually beneficial touch with main street in America, and that the diverse base of support he built in 2016 and added to in 2020 is now the strongest force available to the party as it attempts to regain power, either under Trump or the candidate he blesses for the 2024 election.
The Republican party, because of Trump, must now abandon its RINOism and work to grow the base Trump built. It must focus on cultivating the support of the working and middle classes small businesses, preserving the 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendments, and returning the American educational system to one that inculcates an accurate understanding of the republic’s history, a respect and love for its Constitution and Founders, and teaches young people to always speak their mind and be tough enough to take the pride in the abuse thrown at them by leftist authoritarians who rule their schools.
