Dave Workman from the Second Amendment Foundation, a writer for Ammoland and co-author of several books including Good Guys With Guns sat down with The Bill McIntosh Show concerning how Americans have got to be ready to take matters into their own hands given the perilous conditions of public order in municipalities where anti police measures have been carried out.
One such city is Portland, Oregon. The so called Rose City saw an eye popping 530% increase in homicides in the first five months of 2021 vs. that same time period in 2020 as cited in the Associated Press.*
Undoubtedly the perception among law enforcement there that the Portland Mayor, Ted Wheeler, has not had the Police Officers’ back, that he favors the anarchist perpetrators of ongoing strife and presides over a city where police defunding has occurred has contributed to poor law enforcement morale as it has stoked lawlessness. In Dave Workman’s words as a city gets chaotic, the people will step into the breach for survival:
“If there are no police around to provide protection for the public, the public is gonna protect itself, and the bad guys are not going to like that because it’s gonna end badly for ’em”.
This brought the discussion to the topic of differing gun types (revolvers vs. semi automatics) and the best rounds for citizens to use. As larger caliber ammo runs out people will seek alternatives in smaller more plentiful options like .22 magnum, consider whether traditional revolvers may be advisable over issues of fast response, reliability and ease of use and will be well advised to learn how to reload ammo.
