Today, the Two Mikes spoke to one another about the farce that was and is the war in Afghanistan. The Afghan was never fought to preserve American liberties; the war only enabled the Bush, Obama, and Biden administrations to construct the citizenry’s civil liberties.
In addition, despite claims by presidents, senators, generals, and media commentators, there was never anything difficult about about the Afghan problem; that is, if you invade and occupy the country, try to establish an alien political system there, and try do this by keeping a, small Rumsfeldian “small military footprint”, the Afghans will torment you, cheat you, hide from you, steel from you, and eventually militarily defeat you.
This has been true from Alexander the Great’s time to today; Afghanistan’s history literally demolishes the claims of most historians that history never repeats itself.
Over all, the United States was in Afghanistan for almost 20 years because presidents, politicians, and generals never intended to win; they went to war without any knowledge of Afghan history or the working of the Afghan mind, and paid zero attention to the words of Afghans or Arabs who very clearly, very frequently, and very publicly explained how the United States and NATO would be defeated.
Why did the American political and military elites refuse to listen? Because they were in the war to make sure it continued without end for as long as possible because the longer it lasted the richer they got, for them after all, the deaths, maimings, and mental breakdowns of U.S. military personnel was a petty price to pay for the acquisitions of riches beyond imagination.
